Family Life: He has been married to Susan Fallender since 1983. The couple has two daughters, Maddy and Jenny.

Info: While attending the University of Cambridge for a law degree, Shaughnessy participated in the Footlights Club, an amateur theatrical club. After graduation, he enrolled in a London drama school, and soon found himself touring in a repertory company. He ended up in the United States to be with his girlfriend, actress Susan Fallender, who he later married.

Shaughnessy won the role of Shane Donovan on NBC's Days of our Lives in 1984, and earned recognition for his character's romance with Patsy Pease's character Kimberly Brady. He remained on the popular soap opera until 1992. The following year, he won another role that made him famous - starring opposite Fran Drescher on CBS's hit sitcom The Nanny. He played the wealthy Broadway theatrical producer Maxwell Sheffield, who ends up taking in Fran as the family's new nanny.

Following the end of the series in 1999, Shaughnessy went on to appear in the Disney Channel made-for-TV movie Get a Clue, the made-for-TV movie Mom's Got a Date With a Vampire, and the television show Sabrina for two episodes. He has been seen on an episode of Stargate SG-1 and well as NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He has also provided the voice of Dennis the Goldfish on the Disney Channel cartoon series Stanley.

Trivia: Is of Irish and English descent.

His brother, David Shaughnessy, is also an actor and a television producer and director.

Became the fifth Baron Shaughnessy in December 2007 upon the death of his second cousin.

Is a great supporter of Chelsea Football Club in the UK.

Won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for his portrayal of Dennis the Goldfish on Stanley.

Where Are They Now: Shaughnessy continues to appear on television, including guest roles on the series Mad Men, The Mentalist, and Hannah Montana.

His voice can be heard in commercials for both Range Rover and Land Rover vehicles, as well as in the film The Tale of Despereaux as the character Pietro. He also lent his English accent for The Boss in the game Saints Row 2.

On the Internet, Shaughnessy maintains a Myspace blog, and during the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election he started a video blog on YouTube in support of Barack Obama.
