Review: Raiders of the Lost Ark is an epic tale in which an intrepid archaeologist tries to beat a band of Nazis to a unique religious relic, which is central to their plans for world domination. Battling against a snake phobia and a vengeful ex-girlfriend, Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is in constant peril, making hair's-breadth escapes at every turn in this celebration of the innocent adventure movies of an earlier era. Raiders of the Lost Ark is hailed as a classic for a reason. It's got Harrison Ford, playing the charismatic titular character as he embarks on an epic adventure filled with action, humor, and plenty of twists and turns along the way. His chemistry with Karen Allen's Marion Ravenwood makes for a hilarious, sarcastic, and clever ex-girlfriend/sidekick relationship. You get ALL of this, as the heroes go toe-to-toe with Nazis and a rival archeologist. Simply put, it's one of the greatest adventure films ever made. This classic is an absolute must-watch!

Fun Fact: The famous scene in which Indy shoots a marauding and flamboyant swordsman was not in the original script. Harrison Ford was supposed to use his whip to get the sword out of his attacker's hands, but the food poisoning he and the rest of the crew had gotten, made him too sick to perform the stunt. After several unsuccessful tries, Ford suggested "shooting the sucker". Steven Spielberg immediately took him up the idea, and the scene was successfully filmed.
