Review:
With the help of an irreverent young sidekick (Jeff Bridges), a bank robber (Clint Eastwood) gets his old gang back together to organize a daring new heist. I love me a good heist movie, especially if the heist seems plausible and characters are quirky and likable - and that's 'Thunderbolt and Lightfoot' to a T. Oscar nominee Jeff Bridges plays, for lack of a better description, a young version of The Dude from 'The Big Lebowski' and Clint Eastwood is gruff, but good-hearted crook who become unlikely friends that actually seem to bond naturally and care for one another. It sounds weird to say, but the have such great chemistry it puts most romantic comedies to shame. They are terrific! Plus, you have a wonderful supporting cast (Geoffrey Lewis, Catherine Bach, Gary Busey,
Burton Gilliam
, and George Kennedy). I can't recommend this one enough. It's one of those pictures that makes me think, "They don't make movies like that anymore."
Stars (out of 4):
Fun Fact:
According to several sources, including Steven Bach's "Final Cut", Clint Eastwood perceived himself to be upstaged by Jeff Bridges.
